Cardio Kickboxing

Tae Bo, Aerobic Kickboxing, Fitness Kickboxing...It's been called many things.  Here at Blue Wave Martial Arts & Fitness we've put our own spin on this great fitness program.  Over the past 9 years we've perfected a balanced combination of punching, kicking, and some killer glute and ab exercises to come up with "Blue Wave Cardio Kickboxing" --- the most popular class of its kind in St. Charles County.

Martial Arts-style fitness ideas have been around for a while.  In the 80's we saw the emergence of  "Kaerobics" - a combination of Karate and Aerobics. In the 90's we witnessed the Tae Bo phenomenon and its shadow boxing-style workout (thanks to Billy Blanks.) The popularity of that program spread across the country and took on a life of its own.  Every gym and fitness center began teaching a Tae Bo or fitness kickboxing class and rode that success for a couple of years.  Even just a few years ago you could find aerobic kickboxing programs all over the St. Louis Area.  But, the majority of those classes were taught by instructorswithout any real martial arts expertise.  Additionally, most of those programs did not change or develop in response to member feedback.  Consequently, most of those classes are poorly attended or are no longer in operation.

At Blue Wave we started our Cardio Kickboxing program in 1999 and have worked the entire time to constantly evolve our classes.  At first we also had a "Tae Bo" style program but quickly adapted adding heavy bags, swiss balls, weights, medicine balls and other equipment.  Most importantly, we listened to our members' input about what they liked and needed most.  We also remembered to pay a great deal of attention to the music.  As a result, our program is bigger and more successful than ever! Every class is a little different but always includes some bag work, floor work, and foot work to elevate heart rate.  In each class we do moves to tone your arms, tighten your abs, shape your legs, and help you lose those extra inches.  Many of our members credit Blue Wave's Cardio Kickboxing in helping them to lose anywhere from 20 to 50 pounds as part of an overall fitness plan.

If you are ready to get started in a fitness program that you will LOVE try the Cardio Kickboxing class at Blue Wave Martial Arts and Fitness. You'll wonder why you waited so long.

~Before joining Blue Wave Kickboxing, I had gained 20 pounds in the past year.  I would look forward to taking mid-morning naps then sleep through the afternoon.  I could not continue on like that, so I joined kickboxing.  Since then, I can honestly say my energy level has improved dramatically.

At Blue Wave you can never anticipate what the next class will be like because each class is different.  That is what keeps you coming back.  Great music, great workout and great fun.

I would have to say I am addicted!

~I was hooked after my first class! Great people, great music and wonderful instruction make kickboxing fun.  No  two workouts are the same and I always look forward to what challenges each class will hold.  Physically I feel fantastic with a satisfying sense of accomplishment after workouts.

~As a former cardio junkie, I have to say I have been overwhelmed and surprised with the results I have found at Blue Wave.  A friend recommended Master Blevins to me a few years ago.  She said it was the best workout she had ever had, and I have to say I was a bit skeptical.  After all, I had been running for most of my life and had taken several classes along the way.  But....I can't thank her enough for sharing her "secret" with me!  I have never seen the results and energy that come with kickboxing and fitness training at Blue Wave.  Dave has a gentle yet persuasive way of encouraging everyone to achieve their utmost potential.  You get what you put into it, and he gives you every opportunity to give it all and then some.  You really can do more than you think.  I had upper back pain and have now built strength around those weak muscles that I once thought would stop me from exercising.  Every time I work out, I am amazed that Dave finds a new muscle to challenge! I am now stronger and more confident than I have ever been.  If you want to lose inches and feel better about yourself mentally and physically, then this is the only place to go.  I have been to gyms for the past 30 years and none compare to the challenge and results you get from Blue Wave!
