Fit Over Fifty
This exercise class was designed by Master David Blevins with the active senior or retiree in mind. The goal was to provide a positive format and a safe framework for people with age-related concerns while still achieving an improved level of health and fitness. If you have back problems you probably are also weak in certain core strength areas. We address those issues in this class. Do you feel stiff? We work on flexibility in every class. Osteoporeosis? Feeling weak or run down? This class addresses those areas in a way that is both fun and safe.
The common areas of concern are: 1) How can a person my age do these exercises? and 2) How do I work around this pain I am feeling?
First, addressing pain. Many people with back or joint pain tend to become inactive. When you quite your normal activities you become sedentary and the pain becomes worse. So, to work forward we have to get you active again in a safe way. With proper supervision even a person who has had spinal surgery can exercise again. What about being too old? No such thing. Even into your 80's and 90's you can still participate on a level that just right for you. More importantly, it will help you stay active and doing all the other things that you love being involved in.
What about safety? Master Blevins will always keep your comfort and safety formost in mind when you are working out. Most participants will find that by starting out very slow and moving forward carefully, everything stays feeling fine. No one is ever pushed to do anything they find painful.
Inch by inch...it's a cinch. Remember that inactivity and a lack of flexibility started you down the road to weakness and so it will not be a quick fix. But, by starting slowly and moving forward in a way that is careful and safe, you should be able to become your "old self" and be active again. Check the Schedule then come and try our class.
